Quiet Columbus Day session -- no notable earnings after the bell — Monday, October 12, 2026 was a Columbus Day holiday (bond markets closed, equities open) with no major after-hours earnings reports. Earnings season proper kicks off Tuesday morning with JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, and Citigroup reporting before the open.
Reports covered
No notable earnings reports crossed after today's close.
Nothing notable reported after the close — a quiet earnings night is a normal, honest outcome, not a bug.
What this is (and isn't)
A fourth, independent lens — this one on the companies that just reported (or are about to), not the tape itself.
Every weekday evening around 7:30 PM ET, a separate job checks which notable companies (our own maintained watchlist, plus other market-moving names when relevant) reported earnings after that day's close, and runs each through a "Triple Check": actual EPS and revenue against Wall Street consensus, and — the part that drives most of the actual price reaction — forward guidance. On Fridays, a same-day recap is low-value heading into a weekend with no trading day right after, so that run instead previews which notable companies are scheduled to report the following week.
- This job never places trades — it has no access to cash, holdings, or the trade ledger
- Ideas here are commentary, not positions in the paper portfolio
- It's fine, and common, for a quiet night (or week) to produce nothing to report
How reports are graded
The same rubric applied to every company reviewed.
| Grade | Criteria | Typical reaction |
| Strong Beat | Beat EPS & revenue, raised guidance | Sharp gap up (+5% to +15%+) |
| Beat | Beat EPS & revenue, guidance unchanged | Moderate pop, can get sold off |
| In-Line / Soft Beat | EPS beat (often via cost-cutting), revenue missed or guidance lowered | Mixed to negative |
| Miss | Missed EPS or revenue, weak guidance | Sharp gap down (-5% to -20%+) |
Timing
Weekday evenings run the recap above; Fridays run the week-ahead preview instead.
4:00 PM ET
The market closes. Most companies that report today do so shortly after this, in the after-hours session.
~7:30 PM ET
This job fires — enough time for the initial post-earnings price reaction and analyst commentary to develop — and this page updates.
